American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans’ homes, severely wounded servicemembers and scholarships. The Riders at 305 are no exception. Much of their time participating in local and regional events big and small. Here are some of the organizations the 305 Riders work with.
CONTINUING A LEGACY AND HELPING A LOCAL VET
The riders are sponsoring two service dogs, “Wally” and “Gipper,” as they go through training a get united with their new owners. Wally continues Wally Brodock’s legacy of service and will go to a disabled veteran or an autistic child somewhere in the Midwest and Gipper stays close to home by partnering with a local veteran in the Grand Rapids area. MICHIGAN GRAB AND RUN (PLAQUE RUN)
305 Riders have a plaque and are participating in the Grab and Run. To take a plaque from another post, three vested riders must be present. Seven (or more) vested riders can take two plaques. Groups can visit as many posts as they want — once per day. Each run receives points for the number of members on the run and miles traveled.
